Terms & Conditions

TERMS & CONDITIONS OF SALE: 2025

  1. All delivery and fitting dates are estimates and are given in good faith. Exact arrival and completion times cannot be guaranteed due to the nature of the work.
  2. All quotations and works carried out are subject to ideal sub floor conditions. Should the sub floor require additional remedial work or subsequent visits, then these will be charged on a pro rata basis.
  3. Rooms must be as clear as possible where the work is to be done. If rooms are not clear, as much care as possible will be taken while moving furniture, but no responsibility will be accepted by the company for any damage or breakages, unless caused by our negligence and a charge may apply.
  4. Freshly painted areas such as skirting boards or doors, can be prone to scuffing for up to a week after painting. The company accepts no responsibility for any damage incurred due to freshly decorated woodwork.
  5. If no effort has been made by the customer to remove furniture or clean WCs and surrounding floors, unless previously discussed, a charge of £50.00 + VAT per area may be incurred.
  6. Any wires the customer requests to be fitted under the carpet can be undertaken by the fitter; if previously agreed. James for Carpets Ltd accepts no responsibility for damage caused to pipes, electrical or alarm wires that are not installed/concealed to British Standards; unless caused by our negligence.
  7. All doors to be trimmed or shaved are done so at the customer’s own risk, subject to site conditions. Customers may have to make their own arrangements as some doors, such as fire doors and plinths, may not be suitable for modification or the work need to be carried out by a door easing specialist. Door trims are subject to a charge of £25+ VAT per single door.

DEPOSIT AND FINAL PAYMENT

  1. A minimum deposit of one-third of the total, or £100, whichever the greater, is due in order to process all orders. A 50% deposit will be required for all Commercial work. The condition of the balance will be agreed and written on the invoice as ‘Method of Payment’ before the commencement of any work.
  2. The final payment is due one day prior to completion of the work, unless otherwise agreed and written and signed for on the invoice.

TITLE / CHANGES

  1. FIVE WORKING DAYS minimum notice is required for any change to pre-arranged fitting dates.  Failure to do so will automatically incur a £150.00+VAT surcharge.
  2. In the event of a cancellation James for Carpets reserves the right to request payment for any costs incurred prior to this point plus a £50 +vat admin fee. If a refund becomes necessary, it will be made by bank transfer to the person named on the sales invoice.
  3. The title of the goods remains the property of James for Carpets Limited until full settlement is received by the Company.

Nothing in these conditions will reduce your statutory rights relating to faulty or miss-described goods or services.  For further information about your statutory rights, contact your Local Authority Trading Standards Department or Citizens’ Advice Bureau.
